Meet the Team

Maria Comsa is a Teaching Assistant Professor of French and Director of the World Languages and Digital Humanities (WLDH) Studio of the Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (WLLC) at the University of Arkansas. Comsa earned her Ph.D in French from Stanford University, and she specializes in French theatre (17th- and 18th-century) with an emphasis on society theatre. Her research is at the intersection of literature, social studies, and digital humanities. Her work appeared in the Journal of Modern History and the Oxford University Studies in the Enlightenment. She also focuses on second language acquisition and use innovative technologies. As studio director, she oversees a dynamic team that manages a robust event calendar (including workshops), conducts digital pedagogy research, and facilitates the incorporation of digital technology into world languages and cultures instruction. 

Cheyenne Roy is the Assistant Director of the World Languages & Digital Humanities (WLDH) Studio Department in the World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (WLLC) at the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville. Having earned a Master of Arts in English (Northeastern State University) and a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing (Michigan State University), Ms. Roy joined the WLLC department in 2021 as assistant director of the Center for World Languages, now the WLDH Studio. Ms. Roy is responsible for studio communications, maintaining the website, overseeing promotional and advertising endeavors for the Studio as well as the WLLC department, and managing written materials—including social media and Newswire articles. She also supervises day-to-day studio and coordinates studio events.
